Tom Swift IV
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tom Swift IV is the unofficial name of this series of juvenile science fiction adventure novels, the fourth to feature a protagonist named Tom Swift. Unlike the previous series, it was not created by the Stratemeyer Syndicate, but was created by Byron Preiss Visual Productions for Simon & Schuster, who had bought out the Syndicate and obtained the rights of some of the Syndicate's series. However, all gave the author as Victor Appleton, as with the previous series.
Unlike the Tom Swift III series, this series is entirely set on Earth (with occasional space trips to the Moon) and makes narrative reference not to the third series but rather back to the Tom Swift Jr. series.
This series was released only in paperback form.
Books in the series:
- The Black Dragon (1991, by Bill McCay)

These were all published as mass market paperbacks by Archway Books/Pocket Books/Simon & Schuster. The editors from Byron Preiss Visual Productions acted in a similar capacity as the old Stratemeyer Syndicate editors did, providing an outline to the authors.
