Tom Simpson (musician)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tom Simpson is Scottish musician. A former DJ, he is currently the keyboard player for the band Snow Patrol. He learned to play the keyboard for the most recent album, enlisting the help of band member pianist/bassist Paul. The two often play together.
Although he has played with Snow Patrol for many years on tour as the DJ, as well as providing turntable effects on Snow Patrol's debut album Songs for Polarbears, he was only made an official member of the band after the album Final Straw. Before he was made a full member, in between touring, he used to serve pizzas in a cafe bar in Dundee, Scotland called the Cul De Sac, recently known as the Social.
His previous DJ-ing experiences included funk, soul and hip-hop nights such as 'The Spaceship', 'Skoolin' and 'The Phat Clinic' which was held at the old Coffee Bar at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. Most of of these nights were done in partnership with his old DJ friend Nick Decosemo of the band Freeform Five, some of which included 4 deck mixing.
Tom Simpson attended Monifieth High School in Angus, Scotland.
