[edit] Early Career
Growing up in New Jersey, Tom Papa first realized he wanted to be a comedian when at a very early age he heard Steve Martin’s comedy album, “Let’s Get Small.” Often throughout his childhood, and during his tenure as a student at Pascack Hills High School in Montvale, New Jersey, Tom's sense of comedic timing, goofiness, and impressions had classmates (and even some teachers) laughing. He graduated from high school in 1989.
In his adult life, comedy went from being an outlet of release to becoming an addiction which he perfected in clubs throughout New York City. Tom got his first big break with his own “Comedy Central Presents” half-hour special and was hand-picked by Jerry Seinfeld as an opening act on his tour, which continues to this day.
[edit] TV
In March of 2004, Tom created, produced and starred in his own sitcom for NBC called “Come to Papa.”
Tom is regular correspondent for “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and is a regular guest on “The Late Show with David Letterman” and “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.”
[edit] Comedy Releases
In December of 2005, Tom independently released his first live comedy CD, “Calm Cool and Collected,” which is available through his website – www.TomPapa.com.
[edit] Films
Tom has appeared in the films Analyze That, opposite Robert DeNiro, and Comedian and was a writer on the upcoming Dreamworks animated feature, Bee Movie.
Tom and Rob Zombie have written the script for the animated feature, The Haunted Movie of El Super Beasto, based on Rob Zombie’s comic book series, in which Tom will star as the voice of El Super Beasto.
