Tom McLean
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tom McLean is a former SAS member and survival expert who lived on the island of Rockall from 26 May to 4 July 1985 to affirm Britain's claim to the island.
Tom Mclean also holds the world record for the first man to row across the Atlantic Ocean. In later years he broke more records by sailing the Atlantic in the world's smallest boat. The self built boat measured no more than 9 feet, and because of the weight of the food took an amazing 7 weeks to cross. The record was quickly beaten by a boat 8 feet and 8 inches long, so Tom took a chainsaw to his boat and made it 7 feet long. The return trip took even longer but he regained the record.
He started his military career in University at East Midlands UOTC
