Tom Mansi

Tom Mansi, born January 5, 1979, in north London. Singer songwriter and frontman of the band Tom Mansi & The Icebreakers - a four-piece made up of Tom Mansi on double bass and lead vocals, James Johnston on drums, Paul White on guitar and Alain Man on keyboards and backing vocals.

Tom Mansi studied jazz at Guildhall for a short while before moving to Cuba to study double bass with some of the musical greats. Influenced by a potpourri of country, jazz and blues masters from the likes of Charles Mingus and John Coltrane to Johnny Cash, Captain Beefheart and Willie Dixon to modern day fusionists such Beck and Willie Mason.

Tom met his bandmates in a local youth big band about eight years ago. They've been playing together in different bands and session outfits ever since.

Tom Mansi & The Icebreakers' music is an amalgamation of blues, country, jazz and folk. A sound rooted in old school, acoustic, porch blues whilst exploring heavy, angular funk and experimenting with brushes of late night jazz.

Tom Mansi & The Icebreakers released their first 7-inch single, Can't Take It When You Go, on the Kartel label in August 2006. A mini album entitled Holly is due for release in April 2007.
