Tom Grace

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tom Grace was a Leinster Rugby winger in the 1960 and 1970s. He also appeared for the Irish national team during his career. He is best remembered for scoring Ireland's only try in the 10-10 draw with the All Blacks in 1973 at Lansdowne Road.

The following is an extract from a national newspaper reporting his try; "In injury-time Ireland scored a great try as wing Tom Grace chipped the ball ahead and won the race for the line scoring wide on the right at the Havelock Square end. McGann's conversion seemed to be on target but was caught by a gust of wind and the ball drifted narrowly wide."

Grace played senior rugby for Newbridge College, and he is now part of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Ireland
