Tomás Carrasquilla (January 17, 1858 - December 19, 1940) was a writer from Colombia, a well-known novelist. He was born in Santo Domingo, Antioquia. He began his writing career when his law studies at the Universidad de Antioquia were interrupted by one of many civil wars in 19th-century Colombia. He died in Medellín.
Carrasquilla's most famous works all focused on the people of his native Antioquia, accurately portraying their daily lives and customs. Some of his best-known works are: La marquesa de Yolombó, Salve, Regina, Luterito, Frutos de mi tierra (1896; his first publication), and San Antoñito. He became blind in his later years but he managed to complete what some critics believe to be his best work, his autobiography, Hace tiempos, through dictation in 1936.
