"Tomoka has the dubious honor of being one of the most impopular Prince of Tennis characters in the English fandom. Some declare that she's nothing but the personification of the stereotypical rabid fangirl, others hate her merely because of either her female gender or her friendship with Sakuno. Therefore, Tomoka is usually ignored in Seigaku-centered fanfiction, or bashed in different ways (either by having other characters refer to her in unnecessarily bad terms, or by portraying her as far more shallow and over-reactive than she really is in canon).

Tomoka's more popular fanon love intrest is Satoshi Horio. They're usually portrayed as a bickering couple that fights practically all day long, with Tomoka ultimately getting the upper hand on him - sometimes through different kinds of physical abuse, as if Tomoka was a modern version of Akane Tendo."
