[edit] word of warning

I went to this festival in 2003 and had a blast! I want to give a word of warning to other females who may want to join in. It is VERY common for groups of guys to start chanting, surround a girl, and rip her shirt off. They seem to leave her alone afterwards, but just be aware of it. I would recommend wearing a sports bra or something, just so you aren't exposing more than you might want.

[edit] More incorrect date

My assesment of the "forth" Wednesday in August rather than the "last" Wednesday is based off of my personal experience in Bunol in August of 2001 and the colloquial explanations that I got at that time. True, the vast majority of websites list the festival as the *last* Wednesday, but I strongly urge against advertising the date as such considering that I based my vacation off of said websites -- and missed the festival because of it! I will update the main entry to reflect the discrepency and debate.

Link to blog noting the date August 22nd, 2001 (the forth Wednesday in August that year, not the last) -- [1]

So what happened in 2005, which had a 5th Wednesday in the month?

first wednesday was the third, 5th was the 31st--Matt D 21:58, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Incorrect date

This is a common misconception: the festival is actually held on the forth Wednesday of August; not the last Wednesday. A subtle difference, yes (indeed it is most commonly the same date). However, if you were to arrive on Buñol on the fifth Sunday of some August (as has happened in say 2001... ), you would be sorely disappointed.

[edit] i added a pic

[edit] Written by morons

What a great sentence: Approximately 30,000 people come to the tomato fight, multiplying by several times Buñol's normal population of 9,000.
