- I threw this new article together very quickly from a few online sources(plus a couple of album jackets) The original Tom Scholz article was deleted as much of the content was a copyvio lifted from an external website. As I said this is a quick replacement and is in dire need of copyedit and expansion. Anyone who wants to flesh it out...be my guest Anger22 14:19, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

I worked with Tom in the mid 70s at MIT Lincoln Lab (Lexington, MA) but he may have worked at Polaroid before or after he left Lincoln Lab. He left Lincoln Lab to spend more time with music.

Dec. 21, 2006This is my first time on a talk page. I'm not sure where this is going or who it's going to. I went to high school with Tom and he was our class president. I remember going into the record store looking for something new just after Boston had released the first album. While I was in the record store a new album was being played. The sound was so new and different that I asked my friend Cris (who worked there and also in the class of 1965 with Tom) what was the name of the group playing. He said, "You remember Tom Scholz from high school...well he's got a band and that's him!" This totally blew me away because Tom had never played any instrument in high school and the closest thing to music he had ever done was the Chorus with me and everyone elese who couldn't sing. Tom was pretty much a loner going through high school and after school if it wasn't basketball season, he would go straight home and work on his model airplanes and gas powered model cars. He had an old T-bird that was a project car from 16 on that he worked on. At the time of Boston's first album release I also had a recording studio and when Tom came to Toledo he stopped by to see what I was doing. He stayed for about an hour with another class mate Allen (one of Tom's close friends in high school) before he annouced that he had to go see a doctor for a knee injury he received while playing basketball. I tried to stay in touch with him after that but with fame the walls become very high and only his family could reach him. Time for dinner...bye.66.27.123.159 16:17, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Amazing!!! I came back the next day and the piece I wrote is still there! I'm kind of surprized that more people are not writing in on Tom but them again he's almost 60 and the new generation has their own "stars". I bekieve that I read previously that Tom's father built pre-fab houses. I grew up in a house that Tom's father built and as far as I know he never built a pre-fab house. They were all custom houses. Ottawa Hills is NOT a pre-fab community. There is one other interesting person from our past class of 1965....Steve Hadley (President Bush's National Security Advisor). Steve was in our class but did not graduate with us because his father relocated around our freshman year. Steve was by far the most intelligent person I've ever known. Steve always knew the right answer and would battle it out with Lynn Cooper for top of the class. Ottawa Hills was a smaller school with around 500 students from 7th through 12th grades. Our class of 1965 had 76 students and Tom was right at the top with Lynn after Steve left. In 1991 our class had it's very first reunion. After 26 years we desided it was time to see each other again. Tom's was not able to make it and sent a telegram that he was sorry but he was getting ready to go on tour and not to ask for tickets because they were not available yet. This telegram did not sit well with a lot of his former class mates. As far as I know there is nothing in the works for another reunion and I would not be surprised if we never had another one.
