[edit] Maidstone

Hi Tokle. I have long since expected to find a placename derivation to have one simply strightforward explanation! The BBC talk about 'maidens' in their derivation, and most others seem to follow the same argument. If you are suggesting 'Great Hill' I suppose we should then look to see if we can find the hill so used. Maidstone, of course, stands on a ridge and not a hill: so ancient folk (if the derivation comes from them) must had have some height along the ridge in mind or sight when naming the town, I should have thought. Where does your derivation come from? Peter Shearan 18:16, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Sorry but my only reference book doesn't reveal the Roman name - if there was one. Lots of Roman artefacts found around there of course and the Roman road passed through: you would think that the Romans , of all people, would have had a name for it!! Peter Shearan 16:53, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Does this reference help at all? Peter Shearan 17:28, 21 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Help with maps?

Hei, I've seen you've uploaded some maps on Commons detailing the unification of Norway. Would you be willing to make one or more illustrating Sverre I of Norway? That would be really helpfull Fornadan (t) 15:04, 20 August 2005 (UTC)

The borders during the civil wars were never well-defined, and they were constantly changing. Trying to trace the minute alterations to the borders of the territories controlled by Sverre at any given time would be too grand a task for me right now. I can create a map positioning the place-names mentioned in the article, would that be what you had in mind? --Tokle 19:21, 22 August 2005 (UTC)

A location map was what I had in mind yes. To increase readability the place names should probably be enlarged bit though, and perhaps the background red somewhat lighter.

As for editing on the Norwegian wiki, don't think so, not in any major way at least. The internationality of the English wiki is what appeals the most at the moment. Fornadan (t) 08:45, 23 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Album infobox 2 deletion debate....

Just so you know, the album infobox 2 template (which you inserted into The Beatles' albums) is now being considered for deletion. I like the style and am against the deletion. But I figured you may want to weigh in. Here's the link: [1].

[edit] Voting

Γεια σου — ειμαι καλα, ευχαριστω... και εσυ;

There's no set number, different admins having different cut-off points. The rubric at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion reads: "Your opinion will be given the most weight if you are logged in with an account that already existed when the nomination was made. Unregistered and new users are welcome to contribute to the discussion, but their recommendations may be discounted, especially if they seem to be made in bad faith (for example, if they misrepresent their reasons)." Because we have so much trouble from sock-puppets, many Wikipedia regulars note very new editors for the closing admin's attention (I seem to remember it happening to me when I first started editing). --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 22:22, 14 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Infobox 2 proposed for deletion

You managed to get your comment up before I could alert you here. I can't answer the question about a redirect myself; I don't recall seeing the suggestion in the original debate. Monicasdude 20:55, 16 December 2005 (UTC)

I just wanted to let you know that your initiative on integrating that {{Click}} function in album infobox 2 is greatly appreciated. It's great when users take a bold and proactive approach to the 'pedia, and it always puts a smile on my face. Flowers for everyone who makes me smile :) --Qirex 11:09, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Region?

We need to review the terms used for various types of regions of Norway, esp. the current erroneous term "landscape", but also landsdel and tettsted. See for instance Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Norway#.22Landscape.22. -- Egil 16:09, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use images in discographies

To be honest, I can't remember any of this new policy actually making its way to the albums project page. (Is it there? I can only assume it's not if you can't find it.) Since nothing has changed since the last discussion, I think it's an issue of the editors not knowing, and none of our usual patrollers having found it yet. –Unint 20:32, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
