[edit] History

Today in New York was launched sometime in the 1980s. Its premiere anchor was Jane Hanson. For the first decade or so the cast was anchored from the newsroom. The theme was different than the Live at Five and News 4 New York themes. Until the 1990s, cast was an hour long. It was then expanded to 65 minutes, starting at 5:55. It was subsequentely expanded to 90 minutes and then the current two hours. After being taken off the anchor desk at Live at Five in 1992, Tony Guida briefly coanchored with Jane. Matt Lauer co anchored with her from 1992-1994. Mary Civiello replaced Lauer; she anchored until 1997. Maurice DuBois followed her as co-anchor. Hanson, still with the station until November 2006, was replaced by Darlene Rodriguez. DuBois left for WCBS and was replaced by Rob Morrison.
