One should not use Wikipedia to promote their own pet theories. The attempt to identify Kh. el-Maqatir has never been accepted by scholars working in the field. It is a failed attempt for both geographical and archaeological reasons, though it is actively promoted by a small, minority - namely Dr. Bryant Woods and his followers. However, their motivations (along with that of IBEX) are entirely theological and have little to do with the academic study of the ancient Near East. To state that Maqatir "may be biblical Ai" grossly exagerates the highly speculative, and otherwise discredited, state of research centered on this Middle Eastern site.
