Toby McGrath

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Toby McGrath (born October 11, 1980 in Northam, Western Australia) is an Australian rules footballer in the WAFL.

McGrath had a brief taste of the professional league, the Australian Football League, when he was recruited from South Fremantle to the West Coast Eagles' rookie list. After two years he did not play a game, and was given another chance by the Essendon Football Club, where he played with his brother Cory, although did not manage a senior game.

In 2005 he was involved in a controversy in the awarding of the Simpson Medal following the WAFL Grand Final when the number 8 was called (McGrath number is 39), and McGrath's name announced. The number 8, Clint Jones arrived on stage in confusion. The mistake was quickly rectified and the medal was correctly awarded to McGrath.

McGrath has two footballer brothers, Cory and Ashley.
