[edit] Early Career
Toby graduated in Fine Art from Coventry University in 1979, specialising in cartoons and caricature. From here he persued a musical career, starting off with The Swinging Cats and then becoming one of the founding members of the British band Colourfield, which formed in 1984. Their first single "Colourfield" missed the top 40. Their second single "Take" was as unsuccessful. "Thinking Of You" reached number 12 in the charts and remained to be the only charting single.
Retraining as a graphic designer in the late 80's, he worked as a designer in consultancies in London and the northwest, simultaneously teaching graphic design on the BA Design & Visual Arts course at Stockport College.
Taking up the challenge of digital media within the graphic design field, Toby went on to gain a Masters Degree in Multimedia Arts from Liverpool John Moores University in 1999, and to initiate a new Multimedia Design pathway within Stockport's design degree in 2001.
