To The East, Blackwards is the debut album from Hip Hop group X-Clan. The group consists of members Brother J, Professor X, Sugar Shaft and Grand Architect Paradise. This was one of Hip Hop's most acclaimed albums of the early nineties, famous for its pro-Black content. Their debut single "Raise The Flag" from 1989 is included here, as well as the hit "Funkin' Lesson". In 1998, the album was selected as one of The Source Magazine's 100 Best Rap Albums.
