[edit] Plot synopsis

Ellie, Sean, Hazel, Jimmy, and Toby are all stuck in Saturday detention, enforced by Mr. Raditch.

[edit] Expanded Overview

The episode starts off with Ellie Nash walking alone to school, with the street entirely deserted. She stops and sighs to herself while slapping herself with elastic band on her wrist and proceeds to enter the school.

Inside in the cafeteria, Mr. Raditch walks in on the various students (Ellie, Sean, Hazel, Jimmy, and Toby) present and welcomes them to Saturday detention on such a "beautiful day". He then proceeds to inform them of the strict rules and guidlines they must follow, mentioning:

No talking, no chewing gum, no getting up, no feet on the table, no doing your nails, no eating until I say. There is one bathroom pass that you must carry with you. You'll get one half-hour for lunch, the rest is spent on doing homework.

Mr. Raditch walks off stating that he is "all eyes and ears" leaving Ellie and the others to contemplate their situation.

After what seems like a lengthy period of time has passed, Sean is standing up and actively throwing a tennis ball against the wall while the others are trying to work. Jimmy tells him to stop and when Sean remarks that he "missed the part where he [Jimmy] became Raditch" and throws the ball up into the ceiling, causing a panel from the ceiling tiles to fall on Ellie's desk. Landing on Ellie's bag, Sean concerns himself to whether he damaged the bag and when he removes the tile to check its status, Ellie quickly takes it back and protects it.

Some more time has passed and the students are all trying to replace the tile. Being directed by Hazel, Sean is awkwardly holding Toby up, who mentions that he "doesn't really like heights". Hazel points out Sean and Toby's inability to follow her instructions; to which Sean asks if the "princess" would like to switch places with him (to which Jimmy quickly comes to her defense). After some clumsy and tedious work, the duo manage to roughly place the tile back but happen to topple, and fall on Jimmy. Ellie helps Sean up just as they realize that Raditch has entered the room. He splits all the boys up into the corners with the girls in the middle while Ellie has a look lingering on Sean while he walks away.

Time passes on as each person becomes more bored. Ellie writes "the detention continues..." in her time coded diary log, while Sean is playing with his retractable keys, and Hazel is staring at the clock. Remarking that the clock must be wrong, Hazel notifies Sean, much to his annoyance, that "some of them have social engagements". He cleverly and sarcastically wonders if her engagement would be having to lick Paige's boots, to which Jimmy quickly comes to her defense. Questioning how Hazel ("Ms. Conformity) ended up in detention, Sean proudly announces that he has detention for eight weeks due to "anti-social behaviour". They all go around telling everybody why they have detention, all except Hazel, who is too embarrassed to do so. With Toby wondering if it was because her "shoes didn't match her purse", Hazel frustratingly leaves for a bathroom break. Sean then sees Ellie slap herself with one of her elastic bands again.

In the gym, Raditch is wearing a gym uniform and awkwardly and profoundly working out with an exercise ball. When Hazel enters from wandering the halls, Mr. Raditch remarks that it was a "Swiss ball... from Switzerland". Upon returning to the cafeteria, Hazel's sight becomes the subject of the kids' mockery but is short lived as they yet again, are sucumbed by boredom. Ellie suggests that they should have a game of Truth or Dare. With everybody choosing truth, Ellie asks Hazel what she was doing in detention. Hazel decides to switch to a dare, where Jimmy decides to dare her to kiss Toby. Sean agrees further, telling her to do it on the lips "like she ment it". Being cheered on by all but the nervous Toby, Hazel walks over and delivers a long fulfilling kiss much to the shock of Toby.
