Tlstá (meaning fat in Slovak) is a mountain in the Bralná Fatra part of the Greater Fatra Range measuring 1,373.3 m (4,506 ft). It erects over the Turiec valley, rising steaply nearly 1,000 m (3,300 ft) above the valley bottom. Its slopes are rugged with many rock spires, there are terraces on the grass-covered summit. Due to many rare plants growing there, well-preserved forests and many karst caves in the massife the mountain with a larage surrounding area has been declared a Nature Reserve covering an area of 3,066 ha (7,576 acre). Together with opposite Ostrá (meaning sharp in Slovak) Mountain and Gaderská Valley beneath them it creates one of the most valuable and picturesque parts of the Greater Fatra Range.
