TK-421 is the "name" of one of the stormtroopers in the movie Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

TK-421 and his counterpart, TK-422, were guarding the Millennium Falcon when they were summoned up the ramp, and then shot by Han Solo. TK-421's armor was then taken by Luke Skywalker and used to sneak through the Death Star.

[edit] Trivia

In the novelization of the movie, the trooper was referred to as THX 1138, in an homage to one of George Lucas' previous films.

It is unknown what, if anything TK-421 means. It is speculated that TK refers to the type of trooper, and 421 is the serial number for troopers of that type.

TK-421 was the only stormtrooper to receive a designation in any of the three original trilogy movies.

TK-421 has become an easter egg of sorts mentioned in various places such as the movie Boogie Nights and in video games like Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and Fallout 2.

TK-421 (spelled out as "Teekay-421") is also the name of the unofficial Belgian Star Wars fanclub.
