Tiruppur is a business town located in Coimbatore district in the south Indian State of Tamil Nadu. It is around 50 km from the district capital —Coimbatore.It is the seventh corporation of the state. Population of Tiruppur is around 300,000–400,000. The nearest airport is in Coimbatore. The nearest international airports are Kochi, Bangalore, and Chennai airports.

It is main contributor of export of knitwear and garments. It provides very good job opportunities for the more than 5 districts around the town.

As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Tiruppur had a population of 346,551. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Tiruppur has an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 82%, and female literacy is 69%. In Tiruppur, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Although Tiruppur is a little town, it is the centre of Tamil Nadu's cotton knitwear industry and successfully markets its products in India and overseas.[2] It is called the Knits Capital of India as it caters to famous brands and retailers from all over the world.Nearly every buyer of Knits in the world comes to Tirupur. You can find them at Hotel Velan a 3 Star hotel in Tirupur. It has a wide range of factories which export all types of Knits fabrics and supply garments for Kids, Ladies, Mens garments - both underwears and tops. There are famous exporters like Eastman, Poppys, Sp, Best, Shakthi Knitting, Scm , Ncc,etc It is known for its medium priced, high productivity, quality garments. Boasting of all the buyers offices in town. People are known for their hardwork and dedication. Though the roads are bad and a few hotels around means that the night life is virtually zero. you work , work and work and yes work again. conversations at every joint is about fabrics or garments.
