The Tiroler Achen is a river in Austria and Germany, rising in the Kitzbühel Alps as Großache, a confluence of Kitzbühler Ache, Reither Ache and Fieberbrunner Ache. In Bavaria it mouths as Tiroler Achen into the Chiemsee. (At first sight, the expression Tiroler Achen may look like German language plural, but in fact is Bavarian language singular.)
The river has a length of 79 km, with 24 km in the German district of Traunstein. The river delta was declared a nature reserve.
During the 1970s, due to pollution from waste water the river was rated severely polluted (class 3). After ecologic counter measures, the river today is rated moderately polluted (class 2). The river delta in the Chiemsee is a Nature reserve.
