The Tiraspol Times is an English language newspaper and news website focused exclusively on Transnistria. It is published online as well as with a weekly edition being issued in print (tabloid format). It also publishes a "Weekly Review" in four color print.[1]
According to its website[2], it also functions as a content provider for news organizations based in London, England, and Moscow, Russia.
Its articles have been reprinted by UNPO[1] and by the United Nation's Global Action on Aging[2], among others, and have been cited by numerous independent news organizations in Romania, Moldova, Transnistria, and other parts of the region.[3]
It obtains its funding from a mix of advertising sales, subscription revenue and retail sales.[4] According to Radio Free Europe, it was founded by a newspaper owner from Ireland who has explained that it receives no outside funding and that the seed money came from the private capital of the directors.
