[edit] Edit Protect

You requested {{editprotected}} on your own user page, but you are capable of editing that page and so don't need to use the tag. Are you requesting something, or was this a mistake? --ais523 16:23, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
It seemed that your user page was vandalised by User:63.245.148.204. It is possible to protect a user page against such vandalism, but normally it isn't done (as with articles, normally people just revert the vandalism back when they see it). You should watchlist your userpage if you haven't already to help you notice such vandalism. If your userpage is vandalised heavily in the future, you could try WP:RFPP to request protection, but it's unlikely to be granted after just one vandalistic edit. --ais523 16:29, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Methylenedioxymethamphetamine

Hi, I have reverted the addition of the streetnames to the intro of the text. The less common streetnames are named in the text (where it is described with 'sometimes'), now in the intro they get 'commonly known', which I think is not true.

As a more general problem: I have troubles with the streetnames of the drugs. These names are hard to check, and I see sometimes them being added, where I know they are wrong, often the addition is unsources (it is why I asked for an edit summary in the first place). I feel much like giving every single one of them a {{cn}}, and remove them if after a couple of weeks there is no proper citation added. See wp:rs for what would be defined as a proper citation, simply, if there is no reliable source for the streetname, the name may just not be notable enough (even when there are some not-reliable sources that state them, it would be a minority name). For now I'll wait for an answer, I have raised this issue also once on a wikiproject. Hope to see you around! --Dirk Beetstra T C 16:36, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

I understand where you are coming from. I have no actual proof that those are legitimate street names, but I have a case to argue. I feel that no citation should be needed for the addition of street names, and I say this because it varies. Street names vary from culture to culture, of which I am sure you are aware of. I feel that in order to provide the most accurate information about this topic there needs to be a diverse culture of editors. I hope that makes sense. Wikipedia is supposed to provide the most accurate information possible, and I am just trying to add to it. By adding certain slang names, it opens up people’s knowledge. Being a user myself, I feel that my information is VERY accurate, seeing as how I would use the terms on a daily basis. Sure there is no citation, but there is an addict that lived the lifestyle. That should be a citation enough. I hope you now understand where I am coming from.
Thanks, PulsHrd 16:47, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
I disagree. If it is a used streetname, there simply are references for it. I am sorry, but information is not accurate because the person that adds it says so, accuracy should be measured by reliable sources.
That street names vary from culture to culture indeed is known, and I am not saying that we should not have streetnames in articles, they indeed are a welcome addition. The thing is only, what if I am a vandal, and I want to add the streetname 'mobile' to the list of MDMA-streetnames (I could add a whole list of common objects that people carry around when being in the street, and I have seen that happening) .. from your point of view, you would not contest that. Now seen the seriousness that you have in editing the article, and since you have taken the effort to open a wikipedia account, I don't think you are a vandal, but still the same principle would apply. Hope this helps. --Dirk Beetstra T C 16:56, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Yes. You’re right. Unfortunately, my current circumstances limit me to Wikipedia only. In my user account you can see that I am a Tipton Academy Student, and you could put two and two together and see that I am here for substance abuse. I have seen websites that have used the terms I added, but I am unable to access them at this point. Oh well…
Thanks for the help, PulsHrd 17:10, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
I did not notice that yet. As I said, I am not reverting them in the second paragraph, I might just give them a {{cn}}, that may result in other people adding the reference. You could also describe where you found the reference on the talkpage, and maybe someone will be so kind to add it for you. If you have access to wikipedia, I guess you also have access to the rest of the internet, and you may be able to find something suitable enough to add as a proper reference (though that may be difficult if you do not have access to the more official literature, though some databases are open and may give the information, you could also think of a respected newspaper giving the name in a reference). Hope this helps, and good luck! --Dirk Beetstra T C 17:34, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Unfortunately, I do not have access to the rest of the internet. All other websites are blocked, which limits everything except Wikipedia. I do remember that I found that information when I was searching for info I needed for a speech, but I don't know what website it was and what not... I will talk about it in the Talk section though

[edit] Tipton academy blanking

Hi Tiptonprisoner. Blanking articles, like you did to Tipton academy, doesn't delete them. Only admins can delete pages. Picaroon 16:16, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

AFD discussions typically last for five days; the one about the academy is currently three days in. Although an admin might close it per WP:SNOW, seeing as no one has supported keeping it and a good amount of opinions have been given, this isn't always done, so you might just have to wait two more days.
