Tip Top, Arizona

Tip Top, Arizona's post office was established August 12, 1880 and discontinued February 14, 1895 after the US government devaluated the price of silver. The original strike that lead to the formation of the town was by two men, Moore and Corning in 1875. Tip Top was mainly a silver mining town however gold was also found in the depostis. Many runins still exist today of buildings, bars, mine offices, a cemetery, etc.
The nearby ghost town of Gilette was the original mill site for the ore from the Tip Top mine.
Tip Top at its peak had over 500 residents and was one of the largest towns in Arizona at the time.
Tip Top can be reached via several routes depending upon your experience at off road travel. A four wheel drive truck, dirt bike, quad or equal is recommended. One route is off Interstate 17 at exit 236, this is generally considered to be the easiest. Bringing a topographical map is advised. The best time to travel is when temperatures are cooler, generally the spring, fall and winter seasons in Arizona. Travel during the summer is dangerous as temperatures can soar to over 120 degrees.
