[edit] Bios

Oh good - they deserve it. -- ALoan (Talk) 15:41, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: 200 seasons

200 Seasons of Australian Cricket - Articles in the form of "newspaper clippings" about Australian cricket from 1877–1997 - Why is it 200 seasons ? Tintin Talk 13:49, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Haha yeh I thought the same thing myself... I only flipped through it and the first year mentioned was 1877, but later on it starts again at 1804. They are still a few years off though - the fact the book was sponsored by Ansett may explain a few things ;-) AlbinoMonkey (Talk) 13:58, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] FAC

Hi Tintin, I wanted to let you know that an article I've worked a lot on recently, the Political integration of India is now FAC. I hope you will have some time to consider the work and give it an up or down vote. Please don't consider this soliciting - I'm requesting your participation. Thanks! Rama's Arrow 04:35, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image license

I saw your message on Gurubrahma's talk page. I added a license header to your image. You can add the license by clicking Edit page and adding one of the copyright tags. - Ganeshk (talk) 16:44, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Isn't Ganesh fast? "== Licensing == <enter> {{PD-self}}" is the syntax to type out after clicking "edit this page" link usually. Now, you don't need to do that as he has created the license header. --Gurubrahma 17:06, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Kerala

Hi Tintin — why the surprise for being mentioned in the FAC? You gave many comments that got factual errors clarified or corrected. You also said that I should remove flow words, something which I ended up doing after Nichalp suggested a copyedit. If you need help w/ anything, or would like to offer more help/critique yourself, plz feel free. Saravask 03:27, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "marumakkatayam"

Regarding - "There's been recent dispute about whether the phrase "Kerala's society is also less patriarchical than the rest of the Third World, largely following — with exceptions — a traditional matrilineal system known as marumakkatayam" belongs in the article. That sentence has three inline citations attached to it. Yet User:Sagaram has deleted this four times without explanation. I'd like to get everyone's opinions on this, including those who feel material on matrilineality doesn't belong here. Thanks. Saravask 07:23, 29 January 2006 (UTC)"

My opinion is that we should keep that sentence regarding "marumakkatayam".

Best Regards

[edit] BIM

Just saw your message. BIM is definitely notable. It's one of the top B-schools in Tamilnadu. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 06:14, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Notable ??

Hi,

Is the person Sasimohan notable or famous? Is the person famous or notable enough for an entry or a good candidate for speedy deletion? There are seperate articles for his wife (Vinodini Sasi Mohan) and his portal Weblokam.com Most of the article was put up by Anon IP's

Jisha C J 11:41, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RfA Thanks!

Okay, this is perhaps a bit overdue, but thank-you for your support in my recent RfA! I passed with a final vote count consensus of (82/1/0), which was a lot of support that I really appreciate. I'll try to live up to the expectations; and on that note, if there's ever something I do wrong (or don't do right), please spit in my general direction. Cheers! --PeruvianLlama(spit) 05:10, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sasimohan

I guess Sasi mohan can be nominated for Afd, and try to improve the article on Vinodini and maybe add a line or two on Sasimohan and his portal. What is your opnion? Or should it be the other way around? Jisha C J 06:20, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

suggest listing for afd. i met the man in person a few days ago, i think he's kind of like the self-publicising kind. if anon ip, might be.. well, i'm refraining comment. what article says is true, but it's like advertising for web lokam. very much against it. he's not notable enough to get wiki. -Pournami

Just marked it Afd. Hope that would do.

Thanks Jisha C J 09:24, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Name orders

  • Hmm, why is this? It might be in line with standard convention, but do you know if there is any wikipedia policy about this? In category labelling, I don't understand why Pakistani names are any different (but then, i am quite anal about how the categories look!) Jdcooper 17:11, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
Well i would say that the names should follow wikipedia naming convention, unless a valid reason otherwise can be given. i see no reason why these people's nams should be treated differently Jdcooper 19:10, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 2 unrelated things

Hi Tintin, I guess you've heard of {{PROD}}. I was wondering if it can be listed on a separate listing on WP:DSI. Also, if you have time, you may want to hv a look at Venkatapathy Raju, which seems to have violated the spirit of copyright, by plagiarising cricinfo's write-up. --Gurubrahma 14:10, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

Ok, btw I had to semi-protect Mahatma Gandhi - am planning to monitor the progress for a week. For the last two months, bulk of the edits hav been, as you know, vandalism and reverts. --Gurubrahma 15:45, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vikas Khanna

Thanks for the notification. It's not the same content, so a speedy wouldn't apply. I have no opinion on the AfD, but I've made a comment. User:Zoe|(talk) 04:03, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thiru Vi.Ka. Afd

Thanks for notifying me about the Afd, Tintin. I was shocked to see that up for deletion. I should also keep a watch on Afd now nad then, it appears. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 05:35, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] ==Vikas Khanna==

I am planning to move this from speedy to AfD in a few minutes, unless an admin delete it before then or if you have any objection. The original reason for deletion was copyvio which afaik isn't true with the current version. It is better to decide his notability through an AfD. Tintin (talk) 03:00, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

Seems fine, I don't think notability is in question, merely copyright status. Stifle 16:39, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
You have this listed for AfD. The consensus seens to be Keep as you are still the only one voting for its deletion. Are you still of the opinion it should be deleted? Thank you. -- Avi 20:32, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Can u hv a look?

Hi, see User_talk:Urshyam#Tendulkar_-_vandalism.3F.3F - I think his other edits to the article also changed some stats, but I am not sure. You may want to have a look. --Gurubrahma 17:40, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Raina

No I have not read anywhere that it has to be full name. I was just going by all other cricket bio articles. For example, Rudra Pratap Singh instead of R P Singh, Krishnamachari Srikkanth instead of K Srikkanth. - Ganeshk (talk) 19:38, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Please feel free to revert my change. Since I am not a admin, I cannot delete Suresh Raina before the move. I will stick to what Cricinfo calls a cricketer from here on. - Ganeshk (talk) 19:46, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Time zone

Hi, I guess you are also on the US East Coast, no? So few people on WikiCricket are...  ;-) --Deville (Talk) 06:54, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm also on the East Coast (NYC). --Deville (Talk) 01:53, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] India, Pakistan deletion listings

sorry about that. I should have just checked the Pakistan page and seen that it hasn't been used since August '05. Keep up the good work, --Alhutch 14:01, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Interested?!

You may be interested in having a look at this. User:Bhadani's talkpage and my talkpage may provide some context. --Gurubrahma 14:50, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] When Ghandhi Advises Violence

No ball. At Talk:DieWeibeRose you asked, "Isn't the choice between cowardice and violence ?" Is this a rhetorical question or a serious question?--DieWeibeRose 09:14, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Monkeys

Hello Tintin, your name and your latest message both sound so sweet to the ears as also to my heart. I seriously never thought of the fact that a user has dedicated his user space to me. Thanks for highlighting the fact. After all we the homo sapiens were once upon a time like monkeys, and it is not strange that some may still be carrying similarly programmed genetic traits. It is a general comment and not directed agsinst any particular person. Let us enjoy our wiki-life and in the process let us continue to add value to the Project wikipedia. --Bhadani 15:59, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] help requested

Hi Tintin - please check out Wikipedia:Defense of content. I've come up with a few interesting ideas for fighting vandalism better, and your advice and help are needed. Thanks! Rama's Arrow 17:53, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pakistani poets

Thanks ... It would be interesting to see them. --Falcon007 11:48, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

  • Thats fine, but I still think that sitting an article in wrong place might create a bias. --Falcon007 13:15, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
  • Its fine, thanks --Falcon007 14:34, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] On why you should become an admin...

I think it sounds like one of the essays of Neville Cardus ;) You could just ask for adminship as a tool of convenience and get it. You do a lot of RC patrolling already. In fact, what spurred me to seek adminship was my inability to stop an anon from adding nonsense. Please think over it again as the groundswell of opinion is in your favour. Adminship would also be a good ground to grow as a person. I speak about this from my own experience. Please think about it once more, I'll be approaching Idleguy once he is free from Kargil war FAC chores. --Gurubrahma 12:31, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
