Tintern (cheese)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tintern (Welsh: Tyndyrn) is a variety of Welsh cheese. It is a mature creamy Cheddar flavoured with fresh chives and shallots. Typically produced in wheels of 2.25kg; it is sold in a distinctive green wax covering. Tintern takes its name from Tintern Abbey on the River Wye, in Monmouthshire, whose monks farmed shallots in the grounds.
