Ting-Sha

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The ting-sha is a small music instrument used traditionally in Buddhist and Bön rituals and spiritual practice.

The ting-sha is a small pair of hand cymbals that may be struck edge to edge (sometimes at right angles) and in other ways . Ting-sha are traditionally wielded in the 'Ceremony of the Hungry Ghosts' (pretas) and to signal that a teaching or instruction is to commence. The ting-sha may also be sounded at the beginning and closure of meditation. Ting-sha may be employed as a ritual instrument to direct or move energy and as an energetic diagnostic tool.
