Tindivanam is a town and a municipality in Viluppuram district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.Importants roads from north to south Tamil Nadu are passing through Tindivanam and simllarly from west to east.It is first called as 'Tindirivanam' where Tindiri is Tamarind in pure Tamil and Vanam is Jungle.So it is called as 'Jungle Of Tamarind' in the olden days.This name is changed as days gone past.

Tindivanam is located at [1]. It has an average elevation of 58 metres (190 feet). It lies in the stretch of NH-45, about 120 Kms from Chennai, capital city of Tamil Nadu. Tindivanam is also located as a junction for going to Pondichery, Gingee, Thiruvannamalai, Villupuram and Chennai.
