[edit] Origin

The current lineup solidified in 2006 with the addition of Dunlay and Butcher to founding members Taylor and Darling. Tin Bangs originally formed in mid-2005, with drummer Shane Francescut and guitarist Alec Warzin, and began playing shows around the same time.

The band released its 5-song debut EP Heavy-Handed Darling independently on May 16, 2006. Several tracks have since made inroads on college and commercial radio, both inside and outside Canada. Most notably, "He's So Pretty" was played on KROQ courtesy of the legendary Rodney on the Roq, and "Shake!" and "He's So Pretty" were played on 102.1 The Edge courtesy of Dave "Bookie" Bookman. The band has also enjoyed tremendous support from Mod Club DJ Bobbi Guy, who regularly broadcasts Tin Bangs tracks live-to-air on 102.1 from the Mod Club Theatre every Thursday night.

The band has enjoyed increasing popularity at live shows in Toronto, buoyed by a brief residency at Ciao Edie Roxxx in early 2006 and featured appearances throughout the year at the popular Mod Club Theatre in trendy Little Italy. Major performance highlights in 2006 include opening for The Killers at the Kool Haus in October, supporting Editors at The Opera House in August, and traveling to the Lower East Side of Manhattan to share a bill with Aberdeen City, Die! Die! Die! and The Hourly Radio at The Annex in August.

Tin Bangs anticipates further success with showcases in March 2007 at Canadian Music Week and South By Southwest. The band is currently doing pre-production work on six new songs slated for recording in the very near future.
