Zelda Games being Remade "...yet Tingle has been in every Zelda game since his debut in Majora's Mask except for the remake of A Link to the Past that was released on the GameBoy Advance..." Since when has Zelda ever been remade? (Excluding Japan-Only BS games.) Gho g't it 01:58, 9 January 2007 (UTC) # Gho g't it

...Koloo Limpah? I have only played Majora's Mask, but I know Tingle constantly says this phrase in that game. Is that true of all of the others? Perhaps it should be mentioned. --Jacqui M Schedler 18:23, 28 August 2005 (UTC)

To my knowledge, in Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Oracle of Ages, and Minish Cap, he has always said this. The Missing Link 22:56, 28 August 2005 (UTC)
Sure, he says it all the time - FSA too. Adam Marx Squared 08:35, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tingle IN TP

Something just recently came up in some Zelda boards, Tingle could be in Twilight Princess, the STAR shop keeper could possibly be him:

http://www.mdtauk.screaming.net/tp-tingle.jpg -The hood -The birthmark -The clock Could we put "some people speculate that the STAR shop keeper is Tingle" in the article? - Luigi128

Well Ill put it anyway - Luigi128

In the February 2007 issue of Nintendo Dream (aka Nindori, see www.nindori.com), Eiji Aonuma says in an interview that the Star Game shopkeeper is indeed Tinkle. (It's on page 16.) The character has a different name (ダンチョウ Dancho in Japanese), but according to Aonuma he is indeed Tinkle. Here's a rough translation:

Aonuma: Also, did you realise that Real Tinkle also lives in the Castle Market?

Interviewer: What?! Are you kidding?

Aonuma: (With a bit of a nasty expression) He's there, isn't he? In the Castle Town. (Laughs)

Interviewer: Maybe... Is he that star man?

Aonuma: That's right. (Laughs) But Tinkle appears in some other games, so here he's not called "Tinkle". But that star man is the result of wondering what a realistic Tinkle would look like, and he's based on a rough sketch that Nakano (Yuusuke Nakano, Main Character Designer) made at the beginning of development.

Interviewer: He looks so cool, it's hard to imagine that he's Tinkle.

Aonuma: He came out of thinking, "What would happen if a really cool guy wore those green clothes?" [In this game] we've taken references from the previous games and made all sorts of changes.

So there you have it. I think this is definitely significant enough to be added to this page. Thorf 20:50, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] source for Tingle not being back for twilight princess?

Could someone please provide a reference link for the article for the statement "It has been announced that Tingle will not appear in the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess, due to poor fan support in the U.S."? I can vaguely remember either Aonuma or Miyomoto talking about Tingle being unpopular in the non Japanese areas, but some quick googling turned up nothing. If nobody can find anything, I'll delete that statement in a few days. --Codemonkey 01:24, 6 October 2005 (UTC)

Removed it for now. --Codemonkey 16:27, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
I removed it again a while back, and once again a google search shows nothing. Since someone insists on adding it without giving a citation, it is probably vandalism, but A Link to the Past (user) is free to add it again with a [citation needed] if he really cares that much.

Tingle Kooloo-Limpah! This user stole Tingle his magic words.

[edit] Fan opinion

Should there be anything in this article about the fan community's contempt (and frequent derision) for Tingle, concerning both his *ahem* orientation and the extortionate price of his serivces in TWW? Setokaiba 15:32, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

Sure, as long as you cite your sources.Image:Weather rain.pngSoothingR 15:54, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

Should I put in that I think he's a pedophile...? >_> Gho g't it 02:05, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Gho g't it

No, do not put in that he's a pedophile. JDub90 01:49, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] NPOV

"Disturbingly tight shorts"? I mean, I know it's an article about a weird, somewhat obscure video game character, but should this be included? Twilight Realm

And that's just one issue. The whole thing should be edited for NPOV. I would myself but I can't right now, maybe in a few days. Adam Marx Squared 08:35, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
I've dealt with it.--Drat (Talk) 23:20, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Appearances Image

Is the image under Appearances (Z18oa-storyzelda.gif) really necessary or appropriate? It seems to be satirical and doesn't really fit with the rest of the section. Also, the pink fairy woman who appears in the last panel isn't mentioned anywhere in the article and only briefly in the Land of the Legend.net reference. If someone can get them, it might be better to have screenshots of the Tingle in the various games. Opinions? Corbo 16:52, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

Well, I added it because it's Nintendo's own view on his appearances of Tingle in the Zelda games, satirical or not. That's why I thought it fitting.
I made a brief comment on Pingle in the article, just to have it there, though I plan to do a little extra section on 'Tingle characters' a little later on.
I'll leave it to you whether or not you find it fitting. Just my two cents why I did. Hyrule 20:52, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
I added a note explaining the image. It seems to be alright for now, but screenshots would still be good if anyone can get them. Corbo 09:04, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tingle in gay list

Is there any relevance to Tingle being number one on on some dumb list about "gay" video game characters? I'd delete the comment from the article, but someone will put it back again. I'm just wondering if this "info" is really important to know. --SaturnYoshi 03:29, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

I've researched this thorougly, and I guess the link can stay. I ran the list through Google News, and various news sources came up with it ([1], [2], [3], [4]). I think it deserves at least one mention.—♦♦ SʘʘTHING(Я) 08:35, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fictional Characters With Mental Illnesses

Negative attititudes towards Tingle aside, why in the world is he in the Fictional Characters With Mental Illnesses category? Strictly speaking canonically, he is perfectly sane if not a little obsessed (like you know, a fan) with fairies. Is there any good reason to keep him listed in that category? --Gamehiker 16:12, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

It might be a form of vandalism that has been overlooked. There is nothing to claim that Tingle suffers from any kind of mental illness. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 08:54, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Actual Name In Japanese

It appears as though Tingle's original Japanese name is more like "Tinkle" rather than "Tingle," as the phonetic "gu" does not appear anywhere in his original name. Also, the romanization of the first of the katakana comes out to CHI, not TI. Minor quibble. Edited main page to reflect this. I think it's pretty clear why his name was altered for Western releases. BaronVasDeferens

Well, 'ti' would always come out 'chi', but yeah, it's Tinkle. Obviously kind of a pun on Tinkerbell, since he's a fairy-loving green-suited man that doesn't wanna grow up. Still, I'm forced to wonder if there isn't a chinko pun in there..
Or just plain Tinkle.. I mean that's.. already both kinda homosexual and a urinary reference. ^_^' Speaking of the ol' boy's real name, shouldn't the Japanese title of his new game be TINKLE's fresh rose-scented toilet paper rupee land, or whatever, not 'Tingle's? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.72.20.191 (talk) 04:50, 6 March 2007 (UTC).

[edit] The man frightens small children and I have proof

I have a little brother, and he likes to watch me play the Zelda games. When I got to the scene in WindWaker with Tingle in prison, he got spooked and scooted in really close to me. Now, this is the boy who had watched Poltergeist, the Christopher Lee Dracula, The Sixth Sense, and even George Romero's Night of the Living Dead without blinking an eye or losing any sleep, yet after seeing Tingle in WindWaker, he had nightmares for two nights. If there are other accounts of this happening, this should be included here and in the WindWaker article. Bucky 07:37, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
