[edit] Renames & redirects

Hi. I noticed that you know how to rename articles and create redirects. Would you please send me a link to the relevent Wikipedia guide so that I can learn to do the same? Thanks much. HouseOfScandal04:12, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Double Redirects

Hello, I notice that you have done extensive work on WP:2R. Would you be able to look into the conversation I am having with another editor here? The user is maintaining a number of double-, triple-, and higher-level redirects (I'm keeping a list so they are easy to fix once we've discussed) and is claiming that they are useful so that s/he can keep track of the multiple levels of relationships. It has always been my impression that double redirects are to be avoided and, if encountered, removed by linking to the "end-of-the-line" article. I didn't think this was a policy, just a "universal truth" in wiki having to do with bad navigation and additional load on the servers. Or, perhaps I am the one who is wrong. I'd appreciate a more 2R-seasoned editor's input. Could you peek in and comment? If I am correct, I am not being persuasive enough. - (Nuggetboy) (talk) (contribs) 05:07, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Disney CAPS article

I would suggest that your rename to "Computer Animation Production System" is incorrect. This is a generic term and is only the meaning of the acronym. However, for uniqueness, the system has always been referred to in print and talk as the "Disney CAPS system" and I think this is the title it should be renamed to (and don't know how to do :-)

[edit] Suggested read

I apologize if this is out of place, since I'm unfamiliar with the purpose of these USER TALK pages.

May I suggest National Security Letter.Tragic romance 13:29, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

What about it? — Timwi 13:53, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:Ac.davidkemp.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Ac.davidkemp.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Ramoji Rao

A section of Ramoji Rao page has always been deleted by this IP 59.93.118.194, please block this IP. (unsigned comment from 218.186.9.1)

[edit] double redirects

Thanks for your note about double redirects. I am only responding now, six weeks later, cause you left it on the bottom of User:Geo Swan, not User Talk:Geo Swan, and the robot didn't give me a heads-up.

I meant to have finished that work around the time you left that note. But I got delayed. Yes, I will find another way.

Thanks again for the note. -- Geo Swan 04:32, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Flexbisonparse "hurdle"

If you have a moment (and memory serves) could you provide some detail on the hurdle that stalled the Flexbisonparse project? Thanks -- Shunpiker 19:26, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Parsing HTML tags. — Timwi 20:05, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
The application should parse the tags as a later step because the URI details are dependent upon what the app needs. m:URI schemes (SEWilco 06:23, 31 January 2007 (UTC))

[edit] Pentagrid Converter

I don't really care what you think. The article has ben reverted. Pretty well all the vacuum tube cogniscenti are happy with it. The Wikipedia moderators are happy with it. It's been there a long time, so leave it alone.

If you don't care what other people think, then you are out of place on Wikipedia. The "cogniscenti" as you call them have no greater decision power over article structure and wording than anyone else. There are no "moderators" on Wikipedia. How long it's been there is irrelevant. — Also please read Wikipedia:Sign your posts on talk pages. — Timwi 11:25, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] flexbisonparse includes

You forgot <stdlib.h> in parsetree.c and <string.h> in wikiparse.y. The former needed by malloc, the latter by strlen. (SEWilco 04:36, 29 January 2007 (UTC))

Thanks for spotting that. But I'm not really working on flexbisonparse anymore at all, so you're welcome to make the change yourself. — Timwi 21:35, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
Nope. Due to the Arbitrators I can't contribute my changes. (SEWilco 03:56, 30 January 2007 (UTC))

[edit] ELO Part II

Why has my revert been reverted (if that makes sense) The Name of the band is quite clearly ELO Part II (Check the official band logo). Electric light Orchestra Part Two was the name of the bands Debut album and should NOT redirect to the Band ELO Part II.- The Equaliser- 14:30, 31 January, (UTC)

I reverted your change because you broke things. You only changed the page Electric Light Orchestra Part Two to a redirect to the title ELO Part II. You should have instead used the "Move" function (see Wikipedia:How to rename (move) a page). — Timwi 14:36, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
I have moved the page back now. — Timwi 14:39, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
I do not know what you mean by Broke I was in the process of putting things right when you jumped on me ,any way thanks for doing the right thing. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by The Equaliser (talkcontribs) 14:41, 31 January 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Massage chair

Hiya. You had reverted some of my edits to the Massage chair entry - however, the stuff I took out is in reference to a mechanical massage chair, and is almost certainly lifted from a brochure (I'm looking to verify that). I'm not sure it's appropriate to have a phrase like "massage chairs conjure up a delightful image" as part of an encyclopedia article... certainly isn't a neutral POV, no? If you had some reason I'm not seeing for your reversion, please let me know. Magichands 19:49, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

I apologise for my actions on that page. I was on a wild anti-vandalism goosechase. I realised later that your edit was legitimate, and I hoped that you would reinstate it. Please feel free to make corrections to the article and I won't interfere again. — Timwi 21:01, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
No need for apologies - in looking at your contributions and user history, I realized that you were a perfectly reasonable editor that was probably aiming for exactly the same thing I was. On the other hand, I'm pretty new, and so I just wanted to make sure I hadn't broken any rules without realizing it. Thanks for the reply! Magichands 23:16, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
