From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm currently a 27-year old sophomore at Galveston College in Galveston, Texas, USA. I'm an engineering major and I work full time in the Information Technology department at GC. This is my last semester at this college as I intend to transfer to a four-year university in fall 2006. I am applying to transfer to Rice University as my first choice. I also applied to Rice Quantum Institute's undergraduate research program for the Summer of 2006. If selected, I'll be a paid intern doing research with Nobel-prize-quality people.

I am interested in robotics, nanotechnology and systems engineering academically. I am also interested in theoretical physics, but this is a more of a hobby-level interest.

As for other hobbies, I do some programming in C++ and Python. I drink sencha (grassy-flavored Japanese green tea) nearly everyday. I brew beer at home and take laborious notes of each batch and the results. I may work in a brewery someday and perhaps I will even build one. I enjoy reading and I recently finished "The Book of Five Rings" by Miyamoto Musashi, a famous samurai from the Tokugawa period who never lost a duel.

I consider these entertaining hobbies. I also have serious hobbies. I also practice zen meditation and I have attended several intensive retreats, including one at Furnace Mountain that was 1 month long.

I invest 10% to 20% of my monthly income (though this figure will change when I matriculate to another school). I don't make a lot of money but I am using this as a learning period for when I do have more. I have a money market account and I invest in Certficate of Deposit instruments for safety. I also hold stocks. I try to find stocks that are undervalued but have strong balance sheets; a history of rising dividends is a plus. I currently employ a technique using MACD, DMI, RSI and Bollinger Bands to determine when to buy and sell stocks that I already consider good buys.

If you've read this for you must really like Wikipedia. Go look up something more interesting. :)
