Time & Space - A Tribute to Yasunori Mitsuda is an album of 18 remixes in a comteporary style arranging material from various Squaresoft video game soundtracks, the music of which having been composed by Yasunori Mitsuda.

A fan-made production, OneUp Studios licensed the use of the original music arranged for the album from Square. The album's catalog number is OUS-001. After feeling the production quality of the first album could have been improved, a second version of the album was issued in 2003, colloquially known as Time & Space (Blue) for its new blue CD art. The original release of the album subsequently gained the informal nickname of Time & Space (Green).

Aside from production improvements, the most notable difference in the Blue version was the removal of all music and mention of Dan "Vampire Hunter Dan" Barnaba, replaced with entirely new arrangements as well as a remade version of his collaboration with Dale North, "To Good Friends." Barnaba has stated that he was never informed that his material was to be removed from the album's reissued version, with the first version no longer listed in OneUp Studios' catalog or official discography.

On January 7, 2006, Mustin of OneUp Studios announced a reprint of the second version of the album.

[edit] Trivia

There are a few notable pieces of trivia about this album, mainly in the form of what most would refer to as "Easter eggs" within some of the tracks. These include:

  • The general style and instrumentation of "Star of Hope" was largely drawn from the song "Hopeful Weeds", which was a track composed by Yasunori Mitsuda and released privately to his fan club, of which Dale North is a member.
  • The flute introduction to "Scars Left By Time" is a tribute to Yoko Kanno's The Vision of Escaflowne movie soundtrack, specifically the second track, "First Vision".
  • Within the middle section of "The Girl Forgotten By Time", when the piano begins to play, the melody used is the same as the piano line found in "Chronopolis" (Disc 3, Track 2 of the Chrono Cross Original Soundtrack).
  • The intro for the "blue" version of "To Good Friends" was written by Tim Sheehy as homage to the Japanese composer Yoshiki, and a similar motif can be heard in his song "Tears".
