Time-Stop (Artemis Fowl)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A time-stop (also called a time-field and a time-stop field) in the Artemis Fowl series refers to an area in which time is "stopped" in a selected area for up to eight hours. People from the outside world would not be able to come in the time-stop without going through a portal. Time stops can only be made by warlocks or one of Foaly's time-stop towers, which is made to create time-stop fields lasting up to eight hours (warlocks can only stop time for 1.5 hours at maximum).

Time-stops are usually used by the LEP.

In a time stop, whatever your state of consciousness was going in would be the way you come out. For example, if you were asleep in the time-field, you would stay asleep until the time-field disintergrates and if you are awake, then you will stay awake until the same time. An exeption to this is that if you take anesthetic in a time field, then you will fall asleep, and leave the time field, moving with the natural order of time. Artemis Fowl used this tactic to escape the time-field that the LEP put over Fowl Manor.

Foaly invented the time-stop towers by letting warlocks charge "time-stop energy" into batteries and made a machine to create time-stop fields.
