Tim Benz

Tim Benz is a sports talk show host in Pittsburgh, PA. He joined Clear Channel Broadcasting effective July 2006. Benz replaced longtime local media personality Stan Savran on Fox AM 970 weekdays from 3-5 PM. He co-hosts the show with Joe Bendel, who has affectionately dubbed themselves "the Shark and the Minnow." He also appears on WXDX 105.9 in Pittsburgh as a part of the morning show. While Benz's family roots are from Pittsburgh he was born in Boston, Mass. and was raised in Guilford, CT. He hosted a talk show on WBNS 1460 AM in Columbus, Ohio with former Ohio State and current ESPN personality Kirk Herbstreit. He previously worked for KFNZ All Sports Radio in Salt Lake City, UT. He is a graduate of Syracuse University.

Prior to joining Clear Channel, Benz was employed by ESPN Radio 1250 as beat reporter for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He manned The Tim Benz Show on weekends on 1250. He also co-hosted 1250's Pittsburgh Game Night with Jim Colony weeknights from 7-9 PM.

Benz occasionally appears on KDKA Pittsburgh's KDKA Sports Showdown.

Benz is an avid softball player. He often plays the position catcher without having to squat down.
