Tim-bird
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The tim-bird is a toy bird built from plastic and rubber bands. When the handle in its tail is turned, it will flap its wings and fly. The toy was first sold in Paris in 1879.
The design of the tim-bird is derived from fifteenth-century sketches of flying machines made by Leonardo da Vinci. The fact that the tim-bird can fly under its own power shows that da Vinci's inventions might have been capable of flight had they actually been built.
