In 1990, while a U.S. Senator, Wirth said,

"We've got to ride the global warming issue. Even if the theory is wrong, we will be doing the right thing in terms of economic and environmental policy." (source)

Until someone provides a primary source for this claim, and preferably more context, this should not be in the article. I have also contacted the UN Foundation (of which Wirth is now president) for feedback on this quote.--Eloquence 20:37 Jan 24, 2003 (UTC)

No, it's not - it is not a primary source. It does not state where Wirth supposedly said this and smacks of propaganda. However, since Wirth himself never bothered to reply, I won't bother to remove the statement.--Eloquence*
