Description:

This animation animation shows the ground tracks of a constellation of 4 satellites that orbits the earth at a constant altitude, taking two sidereal days to circumnavigate the earth. All four satellite orbits in the same plane. In this animation the plane of the orbit is tilted with respect to the plane of the equator. In the case of very high altitude satellite orbit, the only force that is at play is newtonian gravity. The shape of the satelllite's ground track is a great circle. What is shown in the animation is the motion of the ground tracks with respect to inertial space.
