Tikamgarh District

Tikamgarh District is one of the districts. The capital is Tikamgarh.

Tikamgarh District has an area of 5055 km². It lies in the Bundelkhand region, and is bounded on the east and southeast by Chhatarpur District of Madhya Pradesh, and by the Uttar Pradesh districts of Lalitpur on the west and Jhansi on the north. It had a population of 1,203,160 in the 2001 census, and a population density of 238 persons per km². The district is part of Sagar Division. Tikamgarh district is been divided into six tehsils (sub-division), mainly grouped into three sub divisions of Tikamgarh, Niwari and Jatara. The Tikamgarh sub division comprises Tikamgarh and Baldeogarh tehsils, Niwari and Prithvipur tehsil form Niwari Sub Division whereas Jatara sub division comprises of Jatara and Palera Tehsil. The district consist of six development blocks namely Tikamgarh, Jatara, Baldeogarh, Palera, Niwari and Prithvipur.
