Vampirates: Tide of Terror, a novel by British author Justin Somper, is the follow up to Demons of the Ocean.

[edit] Plot Summery

After Leaving the vampirate ship Connor and Grace return to the Diablo.

When One of Connors best Friends, Jez, is killed during a pirate raid. Grace guesses its only a matter of time before Connor is killed too. So with the help of Cheng Li, Grace convinces Connor to go to Pirate Academy, where Cheng Li is now a teacher.

Pirate Academy offers a promising future for Connor, but Grace is not happy there where she realizes that there is no safe place in the pirate world. However now she's got problems of her own; Back on the Vampirate ship, Lorcan stays in his cabin living in fear of the light, refusing to take blood, and Sidorio wasn't the only rebel vampirate.

Grace tells Cheng Li her problems and together they come up with a plan to get Grace back on the vampirate ship, leaving Connor to make his own choice about the future. But when Grace, attempting to get back on the Vampirate ship, jumps off the harbor wall into the ocean during a storm. Connor thinks she tried to kill herself and saves her from drowning so Grace ends up unconscious, in the care of the nurse at pirate academy.

Meanwhile Sidorio starts to build up his own crew of vampires when he finds the dead body of Jez who is turned in to a vampire. He is then joined by the other rebel vampires. Together they attack Molucco's brothers ship.

Connor desides to stay at Pirate academy and desides to let Grace to make her own choise but when he go's to vist her he discovers that she's already returned to the Vampirate ship and what he can see is only a phantom. To celebrate his decision Connor and his new friend, Jakeub Blunt, preform a sword fighting display but Connor finds out it was a set up and refuses to stay at the academy.

Connor then joins Molucco at Ma Kettle's tavern where they are joined by other captains to revenge Molucco's brother's death. Connor is told by the Vampirate Captain to destroy the rebel vampires, they would need to use fire. He is also warned that he might see someone he recognises but it is only an echo.

The Captains follow Connors plan to burn the ship but the attack is stopped when the pirates from the Diablo recognise Jez, but Connor remembers the Vampire Captains warning and leads the attack, destroying the ship.

Meanwhile Grace is told they are traveling to a place called the sancutary to meet the captains guru, Mosh Zu Kamal, to see if he can heal Lorcans blindness. Grace then meets Lorcan's donor and realizes to help him she must become his donor.
