[edit] Biography

Tidal was an underground Emo/Post-Hardcore band from southern Germany. Their sound incorporated numerous musical styles and emotional moods between the extremes "chaotic" and "calm"; as oppositely different yet closely related as high tide and low tide (this is why the name was chosen).
The "chaotic" parts may be characterized mainly by the harshly screamed vocals, next to biting guitars and math-ish rhythms.
The quieter parts show the band's broad spectrum of influences, ranging from Jazz to Pop, Prog or Latin rhythm and melody schemes.

After having toured South America and almost all of Europe in a DIY organized manner, Tidal broke up in 2005. Their development away from Post-Hardcore/Screamo sound towards more free musical expression was accompanied by less support in the Hardcore/Punk scene. Additionally, the commercial failure of their last album "Abraxas" in mainstream circles contributed to the decision to end the band.
The former members continue making music, now playing in Jigsaw Jackson, Narziß&Goldmund, KGB (Germany) and The Renderings.
