Thurne

Thurne is a small village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It is located on the River Thurne within the Broads National Park, some 18 km west of the town of Great Yarmouth and 20 km east of the city of Norwich.[1]
The civil parish has an area of 2.69 km² and in the 2001 census had a population of 116 in 54 households. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of Great Yarmouth.[2]
The village lies at the end of Thurne dyke, a popular mooring, not least because of Thurne windpump, painted white and a popular object for photography. There is a second windpump across the river, the St. Benet's Level windpump.
Thurne is also home to the well respected sailing club Theta. Theta club has been accommodated here for over half a century and is now part of the villages character.Free moorings available for 3 boats at Thurne mouth.Short walk to village with large pub Lion Inn and small shop.
The Weaver's Way, a long-distance footpath, runs through the village.
