Thunderhawk (Worlds of Fun)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thunderhawk is a HUSS Maschinenfabrik Top Spin ride.
ThunderHawk was introduced to the Americana section in 2002, after the removal of the Omegatron ride in 2001. Although the Omegatron and ThunderHawk are very similar, ThunderHawk takes upsidedown thrill rides to a new level.
Once on board the 40 passenger swing, riders experience a rocking sensation while the swing arms move back and forth. That moving of the arms increases eventually leading the entire swing to flip over and over, as the pendulum flips over its axis.
ThunderHawk also faces fountians that rise and fall during the ride at the controlers discretion. This dymanic features creates a possible new ride every time. Most the fountains stay calm for the colder parts of the season, but be ware, the possibility of becoming soaked is possible on this ride.
The finale of the ride is an 8-10 second stall, leaving riders hanging 20 ft above the rising fountains!
Although Worlds of Fun enthusiasts miss the Omegatron, ThunderHawk has been an instant hit.
