Talk:Thumbnail
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I suggest some graphical examples of how to thumbnail manually. The image we have on the page could do. Crop it to a significant part and put the two together.
Shouldn't there be a mention of where the term thumbnail comes from? Or, for that matter, the actual nail that covers one's thumb?

[edit] Merge from thumbshot?
Isn't a thumbshot exactly the same as a thumbnail? However, the latter seems much more widely used:
- Google definition search for thumbnail vs. thumbshot
- Googlefight

There don't seem to be any objections to this, so I'm merging the articles. Jon Olav Vik 11:29, 7 November 2005 (UTC)
Oops *blush*. As I re-read the Thumbshot article to merge it, I realized there was indeed a difference, and a big one at that. I'm removing the merge suggestions and getting out of here 8-). Jon Olav Vik 11:34, 7 November 2005 (UTC)
- OK so please go ahead and explain what the difference is. The Google definitions above don't help because thumbshot is only defined here in wikipedia. The googlefight doesn't help at all either because popularity doesn't indicate meaning. How is "thumbshot" different from "thumbnail"? Does it have to do with the navigational element? They're both used for navigation via preview. 198.49.180.40 01:02, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
