Thrillville is a simulation and strategy video game that simulates theme park management. It was developed by Frontier Developments, also a developer of the similar theme park game RollerCoaster Tycoon 3. Unlike the latter, the game is only available on the PlayStation 2, the PlayStation Portable, and the Xbox. Thrillville producer David Braben stated in an interview that the game may be available on the PC in the future.

The game includes 100 missions to achieve in 5 different parks, each of which have 3 areas. The game also features a large number of mini-games, such as kart racing, first-person shooters, and scrolling shooters. These can be played in single or multiplayer mode.

Contrary to most games, the player can actually interact with park guests. You can talk, chat, challenge, and for the teens, flirt. The main purpose of this feature is to improve the park, based on the guests' taste. The player can also buy souvenirs for their character.

However, Thrillville allows much less customization than other amusement park simulators like RollerCoaster Tycoon games. The themes are pre-set, and no sandbox mode or scenario editor is present. There are a very limited number of rides and stalls, and rides must be built in build zones, and coasters at pre-set stations.

[edit] Parks

  • Thrillville: This is the main park and where it all started. It contains superheroes, ogre wars, and a Star Trek like park.
  • Thrillville Time Warp: This is an abandoned area. It includes cowboys, alien invaders, and dinosaurs.
  • Thrillville Paradise: Included are pirate towns, an Arabian village, and a dream forest.
  • Thrillville Adventures: This park will be entertained by a castle, a ninja hideout, and several horror settings.
  • Treasures of Thrillville: Is among the pyramids, Ican foutains, and a gold rush. This is the last (and probably the hardest) level in the game.

[edit] Plot

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Your crazy uncle Mortimer (Morty) is having trouble building his theme parks, so he asks you for help. You must work with Morty (your wild imagination, his inventions) to build the greatest park ever! But a new park chain called "Globo-Joy" is stealing all your ideas! Eventually, they get closed down, and Morty gets a job as a college proffessor in England, so he leaves the park to you. Then you are left with the last park, Treasures of Thrillville, where there are no rides, stalls, or games. You do not have any starting attractions at all, and you must quickly change that! When you have completed ALL missions gold, you unlock mini-games: Luffwatte 900 turbo and Entertainer Turbo.
