Three great nobles

In Japan Three great nobles are figured playing an important role in the Meiji restoration. They are:

• Ōkubo Toshimichi of the Satsuma-han
• Saigō Takamori of the Satsuma-han
• Kido Takayoshi (also known as Katsura Kogorō) of the Chōshū Domain

Preceded by Shogun Tokugawa Yoshinobu

Succeeded by Ito Hirobumi as Prime Minister
