Thraxas

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thraxas is a series of fantasy novels written by Martin Scott.

Thraxas is a private investigator in the city of Turai. He used to work at the Palace, but was booted out for his drunken behavior. He has some (minor) magic powers but mainly he just gambles, drinks a lot of beer and consumes a lot of food. Therefore he's always broke and has to live in the poor part of the city. Thraxas is overweight, bad tempered, and a keen gambler at the chariot races. He usually works together with his friend Makri. Makri is an escapee from the Orcish gladiator pits, and the best fighter ever seen in Turai. She is part human, part Orc, and part Elf, meaning she gets prejudice from all three races. She is quite beautiful, and wears a skimpy chainmail bikini to encourage customers to leave better tips. She's also quite intellectual and divides her time between her studies, working as a waitress in a pub and helping Thraxas.
