[edit] Controversy Edit

I edited a personal reference out of the Controversy section, because there's not a reason for this Kendall Worth person to be mentioned, being a no one, and the tone was in contrast to the rest of the section. --67.182.101.74 18:39, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Someone put it right back in, so I took it out again. Kendall Worth is not an entity, or anyone of significance to 3-6 and it's not of any consequence. There's no link to the myspace, and no link to a transcript of what was said by 3-6, because it's blatent advertisement. 67.182.101.74 03:11, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Evidence of Satanism

The songs that reference worshipping Satan. It should be noted that this is not any more concrete 'evidence' of satanism than heresay. If song lyrics were evidence of anything at all, they'd all have lifetime sentences for dozens of counts of murder, rape, and hundreds of charges for drug use, possession, sale, etc. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.234.254.154 (talk • contribs) 02:06, March 24, 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Song: Music Stylez

"Three 6 Mafia creation of Satan"

[edit] Song: Throw Yo Setts

"I think I finally have located the gates of death Lie awake at night, to hatch my evil plans, I find myself Stumblin through the dark, up against the f**kin verge of sin, Bodies in my yard, oh my god, them demons came again People don?t you worry cause the devil?s daughter got a plan"

[edit] Song: Sleep

"Sinister sins I decided distract on a ancient crucial past like Krueger's is gross Satanic in scent were wrote on the scent it's so sacred created by Lucifer slaves"

[edit] The Band Name

Although by itself, it may be miscontrued as just another number, but with the amass of evidence above, their is no other way to concieve it. This is obviously a reference to the number of the beast.....

[edit] Body Parts (off of The End)

"Dear Scarecrow I love you, I wanna be with you forever, you too evil though, we gonna give you to the devil" Lord Infamous

What about DJ Paul? He's still with them and look at his verse in "Fuckin With This Click"

(Dj Paul) I'm on a cross Lucifer please cut me free (cut me free) I'll draw your portrait if you pull these nails out my feet (nails out my feet) My cross turns upside down And finally I'm loose I flip the land and released the others who sinned, tha Scarecrow and the Juice I look to the sky and all I could say was "Finally it's on again" No lord could stop us now Cause the demons reborn again My praise The first power found me So I could never coward out A mind for murder but the barrel couldn't tell you half about this antichrist Look into my eyes tell me what you see The demonic man about scarecrowism Saints can you feel me I try for years and years Sinkin' this one day of depression Stormy weather and church bells Ringin' to the election of a new-follower Follow me into the trees Watch me rob Adam And watch me rape Eve In this eve of destruction Most will probably wonder Will Dj Paul, the Triple Six click And Hell take'them under

I removed the section about Three 6 Mafia being Islamic, pro-9/11, and "known to be racist". As a fan, I have not heard a single racist, pro-9/11, or Islam-themed lyric. The lyrics to the song "Bin Laden Weed" have nothing to do with Osama bin Laden, or Islam, or 9/11, or racism; nor does anything else warrant their inclusion in this article. If someone would like to back up these claims of Three 6 Mafia being "happy about 9/11", "subcrib[ing] to the god Allah", or being racist, please provide sources. --Chromo SDR 12:16, 19 October 2005 (UTC)

these guys are clearly fakes, i aint no hater or nothin but its so obviuos, i mean they sing about "satanic worship" what kinda shit hed does that.and their lyrics are way below avarage you'lld confirm if you heard their new song "stay fly" they should do us all a favour and get lost —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 212.219.116.130 (talkcontribs) 11:40, January 10, 2006 (UTC)

The voice was assumed, by at least some, to be saying "Lucifer, Is My King, 'Til I Die". However, the track was actually derived from a classic funk/soul singer, Willie Hutch. The actual track says "You're my pride, you're my dream, you're my Dar-ling, Tell me Why? Tell me Why? Has our love gone cold?!". DUMBASSES>:( --165.234.119.191 16:00, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

"You're My Pride, You're my dream, you're my darling"? Why the hell would they want to put some shit like that into a song about gettin' high. Just because it sounds like the original doesn't mean it's the same.

Because they love to smoke WEED! You idiot!

[edit] Three Six Mafia are real

I have personally seen them live many times and the last time in Chicago (where I live) DJ Paul said "hold up, hes got somthin' to say" and then he handed his mic toward me in the front row and I sang my favorite white rapper Lil' Wyte's verse "See it be that little wyte I'm from the bay I do not play you best to pray" I have been a fan forever and they have so much money by keeping everything underground and "in house". I am also a white male age 23 and the only whiteboy at the venue...

To the last guy who said they are satanic he can go and ask the devil himself because these guys are definately not satin worshipers. They have a name that is as far in the deep end of the underground as you can get and that is why they are 36 mafia. They will never sell out and will always be underground because they are nobody's puppets and why would they change anything other than adding very good rap artists that have real content and real situations that they have experienced.

As a matter of fact I am sippin on that purple and listening to 36 mafia chopped and screwed and the song is ridin' spinners. They are so talented and are here to stay and their albums are highly anticipated by myself and all true peeps that r keepin' it real and we appreciate all that they do for the industry and without them I don't know if anyone would have accomplished what they have and still kept it real and never sold out.

WE JUST WANT TO KNOW

Listen cuz don't get so defensive we just want to know the truth alot of my friends listen to Three 6 Mafia and found out the same time as everybody else and having them being acussed of worshiping the devil is strikeing alot of questions among the fans we all like stay fly but we never really listened to it closely enough to hear "Lucifer your my king till I Die" until our local radio station slowed it down so we could hear it so don't take it out on us also if you don't bealive it slow it down to the part where the woman is singing at the beggining and when juicey jay is saying i got to stay fly so if you have some information on this you should tell everybody you know because the are one of the best underground groups around and this could kill there fame with newcomers and I ain't know trick cuz and I ain't no goth they cool but leave that devil worshipping stuff to hard rock

Dear three six mafia fans, i HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT 36 MAFIA ARE INDEED SATAN WORSHIPS. I AM NOT SOME RELIGION EXTREMIST, IN FACT I AM A DEDICATED HIP HOP FAN MYSELF. iN THEIR RCENTLY RELEASED SINGLE "STAY FLYU" IN THE SAMPLE USED IN THE BACKROUND OF THE WOMAN SINGING SHE IS ACTUALLY SAYING "LUCIFER YOU ARE MY KING TILL I DIE". AND WHEN I SEARCHED EVEN FURTHER I FOUND OUT WHAT THEIR NAME REALLY STANDS FOR IN THIS LINK:

http://www.piney.com/MuJudgmentJonClark.html

iN THIS LINK IT TALKS ABOUT HOW THREE SIX OR 666 IS A REPRESENTATION OF THE DEVIL'S SIX MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS IN THE BIBLE USING QUOTES FROM THE BIBLE AND ALL. DON'T GET ME WRONG I USED TO BE A DEDICATED THREE SIX MAFIA FAN BACK IN THE DAY AND I'M NOT TRYING TO HATE, BUT RATHER JUST LET THE TRUTH BE KNOWN. ,SINCERELY USDROLLERROB@SBCGLOBAL.NET —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Usdrollerrob (talk • contribs) 00:54, February 25, 2006 (UTC)

dude your retarded. First off, three 6 mafia is not a name for devil worshipping nor is it random numbers. The reason the ORIGINAL name, prior to triple six mafia and priorprior to three 6 mafia, was three six mafia, all written, was because they're group like juicy said in an interview on http://www.memphisrap.com/community/article655.html the name was made for the members of the group. "It started with three people in the group, ended up with six, Three 6 Mafia," originally three and later six. it started with infamous, paul, and juicy. Later came la chat, gangsta boo, and koopsta knicca. By the point of this they dropped triple six and were just three six. due to falling outs, they just left the count be and now ironically, since infamous is in jail, there are only three again. And now they are still three six mafia cuz theyre shit is hopping and not at all in a satanic way. so get some straight facts before you ever talk again in your whole pathetic higher-being worshipping, cant-do-shit-for-yourself-so-you-ask-for-forgiveness self. SO suck it down and get over the fact that your crappy poppy and weak instrumental melody crap lost at the oscars. BAM. (VB nigga) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 157.91.65.252 (talkcontribs) 19:57, March 23, 2006 (UTC)

36M is not satanic, considering that one of them (I'm not sure of the name) use to go to my church a while back (All Believers Faith Center, If any one wants to know) 36M is just a stage name with no meaning, like the 182 on Blink-182. 131.95.172.181 18:03, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

Who ever said 36 mafia was happy about 9/11 is a straight dickhead "osama bin laden weed" only means afghan weed which is some of the most potent weed out —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.81.215.84 (talk • contribs) 00:05, March 12, 2006 (UTC)

You know this site is really interesting, a great topic of discussion! I've always wondered why they chose the name 36Mafia, but I could never get solid answers because no one knows the truth and that to me is very telling of just how secretive this whole thing could be. Makes alot of sense that Lucifer is a fallen angel and the bible focuses primarily on his ability to create beautiful music, and all you real christians can attest to your ministers and missionaries emphasizing the power of lyrics and song. So to be on the safe side I've always tired to avoid them, I know I know music is music but as a Psychology major I've learned about the power of both exposure and influence. Another issue I've been encountering reading this page is that everyone's defense is that they are Christian, yet they cuss and fuss at someone with an opposing view, its quite comical, and ironically I cant see many of you being very "christ like". —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.56.15.85 (talk • contribs) 02:43, March 17, 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I'm happy 3-6 won an Oscar

They deserved it. The song was right for the movie. When is hollywood going to start respecting rap as an art and music form. It's just poetry set to music. I'm glad they won. But I didn't like Jon Stewart comment afterwards. IT was completely ignorant and unnecessary. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.21.182.130 (talk • contribs) 01:19, March 6, 2006 (UTC)

Response: It's unfortunate that you feel that way... Them winning the Oscar has set Black Americans back decades. And our ACCEPTANCE of misrepresentations like that is what is holding us back. Yes, rap is an artform, but negative portrayals of Black people should not be what Hollywood deems as noteworthy, and we should not celebrate when such things happen because WE know better. 141.213.66.122 09:10, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

Response to the stupid response: Your not very bright. You need to learn to stop being racist. Who the fuck cares if a black rap group wins an oscar rather than a white one. If you think its a set back than you don't understand how racism goes both ways. "because WE know better." what is that shit... check it, eminem won for a rap, no one said shit. his lyrics hit hard and are upsetting just like three six mafia. but i dont see any white people saying that eminem set them a step back. so just remember that racism goes both way and right now you just look like an ass. [edit] Neutrality

"Terrance Howard, who performed the song in the movie, did not perform it at the awards. They won the Oscar, were bleeped during their speech, and Jon Stewart comments were interpeted by many as racist. Stewart quipped directly after "Why are they the most excited people here." He also noted that while they had won one Oscar, Martin Scorsese has not. Despite Stewart's racist remark Three 6 Mafia still made " Clearly this is all opinion and not fact. I'd like to see the author of this segment provide a source for the statement that Stewart's comments were interpreted "by many" to be racist. Also, the author's personal opinion needs to be removed. Regardless of all the speculation about them being satan worshippers, I just wanted to point out that Mr. Stewart's comment's weren't racist..if you have ever watched his show you would know that. At one point he said "that was the best part of the night. They had real enthusiasm." And for the person who said they are a misrepresentation of the black community is also wrong. There is no way that on music group can represent and entire ethnicity, especially black America which is such a vast combination of cultures. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.118.242.4 (talk • contribs) 19:53, March 20, 2006 (UTC)

What this guy is saying is stupid. First of all I am a christian and songs about god are not hypnotizing people. think about it,people who belive in god listen to that music, not because it is hypnotizing them and making people listen to it its just what they belive. Dude what made you think about listening to the song if you knew about what it was saying in the first place. If people realy think thats whats its saying then let it be. the people who listen to that song and belive that the song is satanic is an opinion. second of all i have never herd of a song that can hypnotize someone. the only way a song can hypnotize you is if you let it. and third you must have had alot of time on your hands if you were to sit there and actualy listen and figure out what the group was saying in the first place. ALL OF THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN HYPNOTIZED BY THIS SONG PLESE E-MAIL ME SO I CAN CONTINUE MY STUDY ON HYPNOTIZING SONGS(im being sarcastic).

First off, 616 is the number of the Devil. [edit] Three6Mafia and Oscars

I just think it is disappointing that when someone in the black community does something HISTORICAL or positive that people gotta turn it around and make it a negative situation. I'm not a three six mafia fan but I do know the song "Stay Fly" and I truly dont believe that they worship satin. Just like many of you stated: at the Oscars they thanked God! Instead I think we really need to look at the fact that them winning was practically made into a joke! It wasnt necessarily "racist" but it was unnecessary and uncalled for. Rap fans and black people all over should be proud that we are able to accomplish things. and embrace it, not shun it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 152.163.101.13 (talkcontribs) 13:09, March 8, 2006 (UTC)

Jon Stewart did not turn the act's Oscar win into a joke; He made reference to their exuberant acceptance speech, essentially pointing out that a winner should be excited to get the award. He never downplayed the win or dissed the song. Later he was simply pointing out the ludicrous fact that Martin Scorsese has never won an Oscar. Eminem's "Lose Yourself' won an Oscar in 2002. BabuBhatt 17:24, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
Hey Now!?

I never said he downplayed or dissed them or the song. And I understand he was commenting on how they were obviously the only people u enjoyed being there, which was awesome! But after the third or fourth comment it was just unnecessarily needed and somewhat annoying. And please excuse my mistake, i forgot Eminems "Lose yourself" was the first rap song that has won. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 152.163.101.13 (talkcontribs) 13:32, March 8, 2006 (UTC)

He said he could still hear them backstage. Comment No. 3 (He probably could literally hear them backstage, further commenting on the excitement.) He said they might "get into it with Itchak Perlman's posse. Comment No. 4, putting the image of an old white musician and his "posse" rumbling with an Oscar winning rap group, which, admit it, was pretty funny. BabuBhatt 17:38, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

Regardless of wheather or not three 6 mofia are devil worshipers or not, regardless of thier historical past or what songs they sampled thier beats from, they still are sucky rappers. They are part of today's wave of black people who take slang terms, make them rhyme, get a beat, and make an album. everyone should check out some real, good rappers.ʉ —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.103.204.46 (talk • contribs) 03:21, March 9, 2006 (UTC)

Shut the fuck up. what the hell do you know about rap and hip hop. I'm tired of people who don't even know abut the culture making derogatory remarks towards it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 198.49.31.3 (talkcontribs) 19:49, March 13, 2006 (UTC)

One thing I am tired of is people saying they are christians but are cussing and calling people hoes! If you ar a true christian you wouldn't talk the way you do! Don;t say you are a christian just to try to back what you are saying. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 207.69.138.144 (talkcontribs) 05:43, March 24, 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Relativity Records

Someone needs to change the fact that it has information on Da Unbreakables when that album didn't come out until they were signed to Sony Urban/Columbia Records. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Djskillz (talkcontribs) 02:45, March 12, 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Satanism

I'm deleting the part that says they're trying to start the satanism again because it is false. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Djskillz (talkcontribs) 02:50, March 12, 2006 (UTC)

About all the stuff the lady was saying in the background (ps, i dont like rap all that much, but i like to research.) U can make her say anything u want her to say. If u think she is saying something, she will. For instance, think for a moment she is saying "you make me.... fell so gay..... tooodaaay" or make up ur own phrase with three small sentances, just about anything will work because a "whisper mumble" is nearly immpossbile to understand, and the mind relates the sound to things u have once heard... so maybe the one who started the 36m are satanic worshipers, is a person who has been mingleing a lot in the satanic world, and is scarred a bit. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 172.198.100.56 (talk • contribs) 05:43, March 12, 2006 (UTC)

Just to add to this, every type of music has had a case involving misinterpretations. People actually started playing Beatles songs backwards to find out "the true meaning". talk about some bullshit. Or if you don't like classics, how about Daft Punk... was it "jump into the air" or "love is in the air" I DONT KNOW but i bet whatever the real words are they referance to the DEVIL............ damn, people are stupid. (VB nigga) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 157.91.65.252 (talkcontribs) 20:55, March 23, 2006 (UTC)

I dont see how you are comparing three 6 mafia to the beatles on this one.. three six mafia made BLATANT references to satanism. Check out these lyrics:

Im on a cross lucifer please cut me free (cut me free) Ill draw your portrait if you pull these nails out my feet (nails out my feet) My cross turns upside down And finally Im loose I flip the land and released the others who sinned, tha scarecrow and the juice I look to the sky and all I could say was Finally its on again No lord could stop us now Cause the demons reborn again My praise The first power found me So I could never coward out A mind for murder but the barrel couldnt tell you half about this antichrist Look into my eyes tell me what you see The demonic man about scarecrowism Saints can you feel me I try for years and years Sinkin this one day of depression Stormy weather and church bells Ringin to the election of a new-follower Follow me into the trees Watch me rob adam And watch me rape eve In this eve of destruction Most will probably wonder Will dj paul, the triple six click And hell take them under

[edit] Name change...?

Does anyone have information about when they went from Triple 6 Mafia to Three 6 Mafia? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Capitan Obvio (talkcontribs) 17:44, March 12, 2006 (UTC)

They changed there becasue the local radio stations would not play there songs because the name triple 6 thats why they changed it —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.128.41.128 (talk • contribs) 18:09, April 11, 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Stay Fly sample

The song Stay Fly samples is "Tell Me Why Has Our Love Grown Cold" by Willie Hutch, so the sample says whatever the original song says in the chorus. There is nothing about Satanism in either song. Jyroberson 07:50, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

Well honestly they may not worship duh devil its juss dat 3 6 mafia is a strange name to come up with especially since dey keep sayin triple 6 in dat one song 44 Killers or wut ever —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.51.76.98 (talk • contribs) 19:35, March 22, 2006 (UTC)

ok listen the reason that three six may even sound satanic is because they are (or were at least) kicking the wicked shit. they took eshams idea(bit strait into it) and did it with southern rap style way back in the day(i.e. mystic styles etc). They arent satanic they just prefer to rap about more violent and harder shit than all these other pussy rappers on the mainstream. in my opinion the three six are the hottest right now. juggalo —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.30.183.192 (talk • contribs) 10:31, March 15, 2006 (UTC)

ok i belive that shit with the girl not saying it but im pretty sure juciey jay says lucifer rite before he starts rapping listen to it —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.11.27.175 (talk • contribs) 18:45, March 14, 2006 (UTC)

In both the "Stay High" version and on the "Stay Fly" version (the second version on the CD) he says "It's Juicy!" and then in both cases none other than Juicy J starts rapping. I really don't think it's that hard to hear. At least not if you listen to them regularly and are accustomed to their style.

...once again......for everyone who has been sent the retarded three6 message...THREE SIX MAFIA DOES NOT WORSHIP THE DEVIL...WHOEVER STARTED THIS IS RETARDED...THE SONG "STAY FLY" IS SAMPLED FROM A WILLIE HUTCH SONG CALLED "TELL ME WHY HAS OUR LOVE TURNED SO COLD"...that's what the sample says..."tell me why...has our love...turned so cold"...NOTHING AT ALL ABOUT LUCIFER OR THE DEVIL OR SATAN OR WHATEVER THE HELL ELSE THEY MADE UP...FOR ANYBODY WHO DOESNT BELIEVE IT, GO TO THIS LINK... http://www.ohword.com/blog/133/violating-part-1-willie-hutch-samples/ ...I'VE BEEN LISTENING TO THREE SIX SINCE I WAS kneehigh to a grasshopper AND THEY DO TO TALK ABOUT SOME WILD STUFF...BUT TRUST ME, THEY DONT WORSHIP THE DEVIL...WHO DID THEY THANK AT THE ACADEMY AWARDS??? NOT LUCIFER...

...im not saying they dont reference satan or lucifer (or the ninth gate of hell for that matter) in their music...but lets be serious here...DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE THEY WORSHIP THE DEVIL??? ...'if harrison ford, jack nicholson, or sean connery were to play lucifer in a movie, would that automatically place them in the category or devil worshiper??? of course not...'HIP-HOP ARTIST, JUST LIKE ACTORS, HAVE IMAGES TO PORTRAY...THATS ALL THERE IS TO IT...IT SELLS UNITS...don't be stupid...

...IT JUST SEEMS KIND OF FUNNY THAT NOBODY WAS WORRIED ABOUT WHAT THEY RAPPED ABOUT UNTIL THEY WERE BROADCAST INTO THE HOMES OF WHITE AMERICA ON THE BIGGEST TELEVISION AWARDS SHOW THIS YEAR...COINCIDENCE...PROBABLY NOT...

Nobody worried about it because its not exactly main stream. Your comparison of a hardly known (at the time) rap group to famous movie stars is weak. These guys didnt hadnt made names for themselves yet, do you really think that they would start there careers by being disingenous and pretending to be into the occult? Eventually they smarted up and realized that they were never going to sell records rapping about this kind of stuff so they changed there ways. Do i think they "WORSHIPED THE DEVIL" no... but theres no doubt that they were not christian (big deal) and at least flirted with the occult.Visitporch 01:46, 16 March 2007 (UTC) cb

IN THE STAY FLY SONG, THE WOMAN DID NOT SAY YOUR ARE GOD..YOU ARE KING..SHE SAID "YOU ARE FLY..YOU ARE CLEAN" OR SOMETHING IN THAT NATURE..PEOPLE STOP SPREADING RUMORS JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE MAD BECAUSE THEY WON AN OSCAR! GET A DAMN LIFE HOES! AFTER ALL THAT "HARDWORK" SPREADING THEM RUMORS THEY STILL HAVE THEIR OSCARS..STOP IT AND GROW UP! AND STOP VANDALIZING THE PAGE WITH BULLSHIT, THANKS! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.220.109.183 (talk • contribs) 00:40, March 11, 2006 (UTC)

To the people who have been reporting "vandalism" for actual facts about the southern hip hop act Three 6 Mafia, please discontinue. There are four different songs with reference to their Satan worshipping, Satan worshipping does not mean that you can never say "I thank the Lord", contrary to Christian beliefs where you are banned from saying things in praise of the Lucifer.

[edit] 36 Mafia CORE Members

The only members of 36 are the orginal 6: J, Paul, Infamous, Crunchy (who left), Boo (who left), and Knicca (who left) and ,NOW, Project Pat has been filling in while Infamous is in jail. There is no source found to support this so such be left off. The others are "members" of 36 Mafia's larger rap collective Hypnotize Minds (or any other variation of name that they use or have used {ex. Da Headbussaz}) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Silent2thebizzob (talkcontribs) 02:43, July 25, 2006 (UTC)

Three 6 Mafia is currently made up of ONLY DJ Paul and Juicy J. Project Pat is not currently part of Three 6 even though he is heavily involved with the group and even performs with them. He remains a solo artist and is produced by Juicy and Paul. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pendy (talk • contribs) 03:09, August 10, 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mustard Tag Deleted

There are way too many other RAP or Rock pages (even Featured ones) that have all official album covers on them that don't have this tag. So, this should stay like that to conform. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.158.122.66 (talkcontribs) 03:07, August 2, 2006 (UTC)

why does everyone say that Project Pat is the new member of the group? he was just affliated with it ever since. I mean Pat is not even on Doe Boy Fresh, but hes on the remix and it says Three 6 Mafia for the original and Three 6 Mafia Feat. Project Pat for the remix. -Demonskyline7
