Thorvald Eriksson

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thorvald Eriksson (old Icelandic: Þorvaldr Eiríksson) was the son of Erik the Red and brother of Leif Eriksson. According to the sagas he was part of a settlement expedition led by Thorfinn Karlsefni and was killed by an arrow from the Skraelings in Vinland. His last words are said to be "This is a rich country we have found; there is plenty of fat around my belly. We've found a land of fine resources, though we'll hardly enjoy most of them"
