Thorpe Bay is an area within the Borough of Southend-on-Sea in Essex, England, situated on the Thames Estuary.

The main shopping area is known as The Broadway, which is a small parade of shops, surrounded by residential 1920s built houses built on a grid pattern. Thorpe Bay railway station is the penultimate station on the Fenchurch Street line from London (the last being Shoeburyness railway station). Consequently, a large number of residents commute to London each morning. Thorpe Bay boasts one of the main golf clubs in Southend-on-Sea, the Thorpe Hall Golf Club. Housing along the 'seafront', which is technically only the Thames Estuary, is the most expensive. Thorpe Bay is also notable for it's high income per capita levels, ranking 5th overall for UK. Many of the 'Seafront' properties are in the multi-million pound sector. Thorpe Bay Bowling Club,Tennis Club & Yacht Club are located on the seafront in proximity to each other and are private organisations open for membership. Thorpe Bay has no cinema, theatre or any recognisable cultural centre, other than the lawn tennis club, bowling club, yacht club and bridge club, and precious few pubs or restaurants of any note.
